What's new in this update?
Gingerbread ROM Android 2.3.7 CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC1 by Joiloroi Update 28 changelog:

Updated kernel 2.6.32.9 CodeAurora
Fixed several typos in Huawei kernel sources.
Enabled KSM (Kernel SamePage Mapping) support.
Turned on setting for Flash, forgot to add it in previous rom.

used libmm-omxcore and libomxcore compiled from cyanogen open-source instead of proprietary ones.
Better 2d performance (before, at 691mhz OC, Antutu Benchmark gave me 184 max score in 2d, now is 350)
Turned Rotation animation on by default

Tips Upgrading ROM - Avoiding Error on Upgrading and Using Custom ROM. Using a custom ROM with your Android Smartphone have many positive impact to your phone. For me, after using Custom ROM, upgrading from eclair to froyo and after that froyo to gingerbread, I can feel many different in this Custom ROM.

The latest ROM in this blog is Update 26 Gingerbread ROM by joiloroi.

Some change that Android user want most like battery lifetime usage, performance speed, and compatibility with Android Applications and games. And many ROM or I can say that is the main reason to use Custom ROM. The developer of each ROM also keep their ROM to satisfy their users.

But there is a time that we got error while or after upgrade the ROM. Maybe you familiar with the word "Force Close" on your Android. There maybe because the ROM bug or you don't install the ROM in the right way. This post will give you the best way to install ROM, or I can say My best way :D

Backup All your important data (Applications, Contact, etc)

It's very important to do a backup before do anything. I always backup all my Applications and contact before doing ROM upgrade. For Applications backup I' using Huawei Backup. Another applications is Titanium Backup.

Download ROM that Compatible with your Phone!!!

Find ROM that compatible with your Android Smartphone :D

Wipe All Data Before Install ROM

That's why backing up applications is very important. You can also upgrade ROM without wiping data, but the safest way if you don't want to getting "Force Close" or system reboot.

What to wipe:
~ Wipe Data/Factory Reset
~ Wipe Cache Partition
~ Wipe Dalvik Cache (Advance Option in recovery Mode)
~ Wipe Battery Stats (Advance Option in recovery Mode)
~ Format /boot (Important: Only do this if you still have problem after upgrade ROM, do this and repeat all the upgrade step. You can find this in "mount and storage" option in recovery mode.)

Install the ROM and do a clean reboot after the ROM installed

Do not install anything after you successfully installed the ROM. Reboot your phone right after you get the desktop. If you having problem in accessing the desktop after the second reboot, that's mean something not right. You need to wipe data again and reboot. If it still a problem, do Format /boot and re-install ROM.

Do not Install Applications at once

With Huawei Backup or Titanium Backup, you can restore all your applications at once. Don't do that! Just install 2 or 3 applications and reboot after it.

Update 26 Gingerbread ROM Android 2.3.7 CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC1 by Joiloroi

The new Gingerbread ROM update from joiloroi release on April 16, 2012. When the first time installed it, you will see the different on boot logo. It use the default Huawei Logo on boot screen. It's also added the boot sound after the CyanogenMod animation screen.

Install ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7

ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7 is the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery that I try and work on my Huawei U8100 Android Smartphone. To find out more about step to step install ClockworkMod Recovery you can go to my previous post Install ClockworkMod Recovery for Huawei U8100 Android Smartphone.

In that post, I'm using CWM Recovery version 2.5.1.8. I also want to update that post that I have failed using a version 5 of ClockworkMod Recovery. At that post I was try to use ClockworkMod Recovery version 5.0.2.3 and failed to boot with that version. But now, I success to upgrade the CWM Recovery to version 5.0.2.7.

I still don't know the reason with that failed before. So if you having trouble on installing ClockworkMod Recovery version 5.x.x.x you can go back to the previous post Install ClockworkMod Recovery for Huawei U8100 Android Smartphone and using version 2.5.1.8 instead of version 5.

Let's take a look what I'm doing to upgrade CWM Recovery to version 5. Note that when I do this, I already have CWM Recovery version 2.5.1.8 installed and using gingerbread ROM from Update Gingerbread ROM Android 2.3.7 CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 Kang.

What I'm doing is exactly the same with the previous post Install ClockworkMod Recovery for Huawei U8100 Android Smartphone except for the file of course.

When you connect your phone to computer in boot mode, the computer will ask for driver. You can download the Android driver here.

I'm also using a different fastboot and different recovery image of course. You can download fastboot + ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7 here.

Update Gingerbread ROM Android 2.3.7 CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 Kang

Using a custom ROM of course you will be facing some bugs. But there is always a new thing you'll found on every update. For you who have upgrade your Huawei U8100 ROM to Gingerbread, maybe have the same problem with me. The previous version have an issue with the wireless power. Some times the wireless cannot be power on after idle. Yup, in this version, that bug is fixed. I'm using it for a week and having no problem at all (except the FM Radio).

I'm using ROM Android 2.3.7 - CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 Kang, found on xda-developers forum thread by jailaroi. And I think this is the most updated ROM from that forum. Jailaroi also active in answering question from other member, so it can make sure the next update will be better.

Step by Step Intsruction Upgrading ROM to gingerbread

Huawei U8120 Default USB Driver and PC Suite

After Upgrading your Phone to gingerbread ROM, you will see your phone model is change to Huawei U8120. That is of course makes you happy, but try to connect it with your computer. It will ask you for Huawei U8120 Driver too. And maybe you will try to find it on CD Drive that usually installed automatically, but there is only a removable drive that can not be access. When you try to access it with the option on the phone, you will only see files from your MicroSD card.

Well, that is my experience :D. Using the Android File Manager to find the driver on the phone storage, still no luck for me. The driver is needed to use with PC Suite or to connect using ADB shell like when you install ClockworkMod recovery to your phone.

This Huawei U8120 Default USB Driver and PC Suite was extracted from original Huawei U8120 phone with the same trick like my previous post Default Huawei U8100 USB Driver and PC Suite. This file is in .ISO format, so you need a software to mount the ISO file or extract it like Daemon Tools.

Default Huawei U8100 USB Driver and PC Suite

Default Huawei U8100 USB Driver and PC Suite is very useful for you who lost the driver when upgrade ROM. This driver and PC Suite is from my Android Huawei U8100 Phone. I did backup before doing anything to my phone just in case I have a problem and can not access it with my phone.

This Huawei U8100 USB Driver and PC Suite is taken from the phone storage. When you plug the USB cable from your computer to your phone, you will find this driver and PC Suite in a new CD Drive on your computer.

This driver also used if we want to install ClockworkMod recovery to a computer that have install this driver before. It won't be necessary if your phone storage can be read and access from the computer. But it will be very important if your computer cannot access the phone storage and you have to install the driver from outside the phone.
